Molly Williams
Molly Williams is the first known female and first known black firefighter in the U.S. A former slave in New York City who became a member of the Oceanus Engine Company #11 in 1818. When many of the firemen became ill, Molly didn't hesitate to step up, pulling a pumper through deep snow to extinguish sa house fire. She was 71 at the time.
